9/9 – NFL – Sunday’s Top Plays

In the first NFL Sunday of the season, I have recommendations on 7 of the 13 games being played.  Check out the picks below:

 

1:00pm:  PITTSBURGH STEELERS VS. CLEVELAND BROWNS

CRS spread: Browns -1.975

PICK: CLEVELAND BROWNS +5.5 (-110)

RISK: 1 UNIT

Whether it's Tyrod Taylor or Baker Mayfield at QB for the Browns, I have them giving Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers all they can handle.

 

1:00pm:  CINCINNATI BENGALS VS. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS

CRS spread: Colts -8.075

PICK: INDIANAPOLIS COLTS -3 (-110)

RISK: 1 UNIT

Not sure what we'll see from Andrew Luck, but the bet here is that it will be at least as good as Andy Dalton.  I'm also banking on an improved Colt's defense.

 

1:00pm:  BUFFALO BILLS VS. BALTIMORE RAVENS

CRS spread: Ravens -12.6

PICK: BALTIMORE RAVENS -7 (-105)

RISK: 1 UNIT

Baltimore's defense will be simply too much for either Bills QB - rookie Josh Allen or Nathan Peterman.  The Raven's led the league in interceptions last season and will likely get more than one here.

 

1:00pm:  HOUSTON TEXANS VS. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

CRS spread: Patriots -19.075

PICK: NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS -6 (-105)

RISK: 2 UNITS

Hard to go against Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and company in a home opener.  Houston will be energized with DeShaun Watson and JJ Watt back in the fold, but New England's efficiency will be the difference.

 

1:00pm:  JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS VS. NEW YORK GIANTS

CRS spread: Jaguars -15.05

PICK: JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS -3 (-115)

RISK: 3 UNITS

Eli Manning has weapons in WR Odell Beckham Jr. and RB Saquon Barkley, but Eli is 37 and is coming off a dismal 3-13 campaign.  Jacksonville's defense is one of the league's best at causing turnovers.  Expect a few more on their way to an easy win here.

 

4:25pm:  SEATTLE SEAHAWKS VS. DENVER BRONCOS

CRS spread: Seahawks -19.1

PICK: SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (+135)

RISK: 3 UNITS

The Seahawks don't quite have the caliber of defense the vaunted Legion of Boom once was, but QB Russell Wilson leads a formidable Seattle offense.  New Broncos QB Case Keenum will find Denver's roster lacking compared to MIN.  A rare moneyline play here on the slight underdog Seahawks.

 

8:20pm:  CHICAGO BEARS VS. GREEN BAY PACKERS

CRS spread: Packers -14.825

PICK: GREEN BAY PACKERS -7.5 (-110)

RISK: 1 UNIT

Don't let the Khalil Mack hype influence you.  The Bears won't win here in Green Bay with Mitch Trubisky at QB when Aaron Rodgers is under center for the Packers in a nationally televised Sunday nighter.
