9/15 – NCAAF – Saturday’s Top Plays

2:30pm:  VANDERBILT VS. NOTRE DAME

CRS spread: Vanderbilt -4.64

PICK: VANDERBILT +14 (-110)

RISK: 3 UNITS

The 2-0 Irish, ranked 8th nationally, are overrated according to my calculations.  Notre Dame QB Brandon Wimbush has completed just over 50% of his passes and has thrown 4 interceptions thus far.  That won't be good enough vs. Vandy as they'll need to score a lot to better the Commodores formidable offense (38 ppg).

Speaking of that offense, QB Kyle Shurmer leads the way while Vandy's defense has given up just 17 points on the season.  I think Vanderbilt wins this one outright.

3:30pm:  BOISE STATE VS. OKLAHOMA STATE

CRS spread: Boise State -2.675

PICK: BOISE STATE +3 (-105)

RISK: 1 UNIT

Boise State QB Brett Rypien is off to an impressive start with 667 yards (73.2%) and 7 TD's in the first two games.  Oklahoma State's signal caller, Taylor Cornelius has been just as impressive in his first two contests with 723 yards (66.2%) and 6 TD's.

Both defenses are solid, BSU yields 13.5 ppg. while OKST gives up just 15.0 ppg.

The difference in this one is that Cornelius has thrown 3 INT's and Rypien none.  I like BSU to win here in a high scoring game.

3:30pm:  LSU VS. AUBURN

CRS spread: Auburn -1.9

PICK: LSU +9.5 (-110)

RISK: 1 UNIT

LSU head coach Ed Orgeron takes his 2-0 squad on the road for the first time this season.  Defensively, sophomore linebacker Devin White leads Dave Aranda's unit, which owns a plus-5 turnover margin with two forced fumbles and three interceptions heading into Saturday's game.

Auburn QB Jarrett Stidham has already faced a tough Washington defense this season, eking out a 21-16 win.  I calculate a similar type of game here, so the 9.5 point spread is too much.  Take LSU and the points.

Good luck, players!
