5/13 – Capitals at Rangers

7:30pm - Washington +140 at N.Y. Rangers -150  O/U 5

Capitals vs. Rangers Game 7, the phrase says a lot, but both teams will have to prove their mettle on the ice tonight at Madison Square Garden.  Not only is the series tied at 3 games a piece, each game has been decided by a single goal.

We all know about Ovechkin's "guarantee" about winning the game, but really what else is he going to say?  It will provide some added motivation for the players, but most likely for the Garden crowd that is expected to be in rare form for this deciding game.  Ovi has just one goal in the series and he'll likely have to get at least one tonight if Washington is to win.

Both goalies, Lundqvist for the Rangers and Holtby for the Caps, have been excellent this series, however, a 4-3 game 6 showed that they are not invincible.  Not sure if we'll see 7 goals tonight, but I think it will be more than 1.  The Capitals really dominated after falling behind in game 6, but their comeback came up just short.

New York has won 5 straight game 7's and 2 have come against the Capitals.  Lundqvist has been in goal for all of them.  Ovechkin has failed to get Washington to the conference finals in his career.  It may be that they're due, but I will rely on recent history and go with the Blueshirts and the King to advance in another 1 goal affair.

N.Y. Rangers 2  Washington 1
